I attended a Portrait Class in NYC this past weekend. I learned all about studio equipment, lights, how to put it all together and break it down and how to work with models/clients. The biggest thing I learned is that studio equipment is EXPENSIVE!! My friend Cecily (who is also a budding photographer) took the class with me. We both used to work in the area and we had a good time reminiscing about the neighborhood. Here are some pics from the day ... don't expect this from me again any time soon, I can't afford all the stuff you need to take these kind of pictures!

First our teacher "modeled" for us (she was a trip!)

Then a couple of the more adventurous students had a go.

Then the professional came in.

My wonderful husband gave me the best gift for my 40th birthday ... the Nikon lens I have been wishing for! It is so cool, but the thing is a monster! 3+ pounds of glass, but it is FAST and sharp! I'll have to take some pics with my new toy and post them soon!

It is definitely a rare day in February in the northeast when the kids can get outside without coats and play. Each of the boys had a playdate and they were exhausted by the end of the day from going up and down the driveway until it got too dark to stay outside any longer.

My Baby

I look at her and feel blessed that she is healthy and growing, but can't help but feel sad that she is getting older and bigger, and won't be a baby much longer. She might already be beyond babyhood, but I can't face that reality yet.

Anna's friend Luke had his 2nd birthday party today and my trusty camera tagged along for some practice. It was difficult to say the least. A big window of natural light, florescent lights, moving kids ... you get the picture. But I got some good ones. I met this little girl today who LOVED the camera ... she was the best!

Happy Birthday Luke!

This next pose seems to be an ongoing theme this week!

Fun at the Gym

The parents of my son's preschool class visited their gym session yesterday at school. Imagine a bunch of 4-year olds trying to do exercises called "the robot" "the train" and "the rocking horse". It was very cute and the kids had a great time exercising/performing for the parents.

Blogging Delinquent

I have been MIA for over a week now. I have been super sick (thanks to the kiddies and their wonderful strep virus!) I haven 't picked up a camera at all, but hope to get back on track within a day or two. Stay tuned ....
